When Jim Tyler reconnected with legendary guitarist and producer Dann Huff, he wanted to thank him for helping bring the Dann Huff Yellow Classic to life. Dann’s response was simple: “Build me a guitar.”
That moment sparked a story—and eventually, a masterpiece.
Jim introduced Dann to the Studio Elite HD, his flagship model, suggesting a “White Shmear” finish. Dann loved it instantly. In 2022, Jim sent him the guitar, and though Dann initially set it aside in his Colorado studio, fate had other plans.
When Dann began recording his solo album, that White Shmear Studio Elite became his only guitar in Colorado—and soon, his favorite. Its tone, feel, and response became the heart of his creative process. From that love affair, the Dann Huff Studio Elite HDX was born.
